Coldplay Still Denies Plagiarism

The band Coldplay is still denying that they copied Satriani’s song.

While the case was heard yesterday in a Los Angeles court, Coldplay still denies Joe Satriani’s accusations of plagiarism. The guitarist sued Chris Martin’s group last December for having copied parts of If I Could Fly and using that material in their own hit Viva La Vida.

Coldplay argues that the similarities between the two songs are so minute that there should be no grounds for a lawsuit.

To conclude their argument, attorneys for Coldplay stated that Satriani’s song lacked originality and should not even be protected by any copyrights.

Satriani’s lawyer, Howard E. King, commented that everything could have been settled out of court.
