A Sequel for Eastern Promises

David Cronenberg is seriously thinking of working with Viggo Mortensen again for an Eastern Promises sequel.

Cronenberg revealed to MTV that he would like to make a sequel for 2007’s Eastern Promises.  The film starred Viggo Mortensen, Vincent Cassel and Naomi Watts.

Cronenberg didn’t hide the fact that he wants to work with Mortensen again.  The two men plan to meet soon with writer Steven Knight and producer Paul Webster to discuss the possibilities of a new story.

Eastern Promises earned nearly $21 million at box offices worldwide and earned Viggo Mortensen an Oscar nomination for best actor in 2008.

Mortensen will star in the film The Road with Charlize Theron and Robert Duvall.  No release date has been announced.

Cronenberg will soon start work behind the camera on The Matarese Circle.  The film, starring Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington, will be released in 2010.
