The Coen Brothers Make a Western

Joel and Ethan Coen have chosen to take on the classic Western, True Grit.

According to Variety, Joel and Ethan Coen are writing and directing a remake of the classic film, True Grit, which originally starred John Wayne in 1969.

This time, the film will be more true to the Charles Portis book. It tells the story of a 14-year-old girl, who with the help of two men, investigates the murder of her father in a hostile American Indian territory.

Contrary to the 1969 adaptation, the new version is geared more towards the young girl’s point of view.

The Coen brothers are teaming with No Country for Old Men producer, Scott Rudin.

In the meantime, A Serious Man, the latest Coen brothers film, is set to open on October 2 in select theatres.
