One of the group’s members, Geoff Barrow, revealed the news on his MySpace page, confirming that Portishead is no longer with Island Records.
The news doesn’t seem to be a problem for the band, as Barrow wrote, "we spent the day discussing the future of Portishead as we are free…well free of a deal and free of commitment…for now!"
The Bristol group is encouraging their fans to give them advice on how they should distribute their music. "If you lot have any bright ideas of how we should sell our music in the future let us know, why not," added Barrow.
