The actor will be joined by the president of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Sid Ganis, to announce the nominees.
During a press conference, the two men will give the names of the films and people competing in 10 of the 24 categories. Whitaker himself earned an Oscar in 2007 for his work in the film The Last King of Scotland.
The Oscars will take place on February 22 at the Kodak Theatre, and will be aired on ABC.
Whitaker is currently working on the film My Own Love Song with Renee Zellweger and Nick Nolte. Later this year, we can see him in the films Powder Blue and Hurricane Season.
