2012 Film Release Postponed

The release of the apocalyptic film 2012 has been pushed back five months.

Sony Pictures chose to delay the release of the apocalyptic film 2012. Initially expected out on July 10, the film will instead open on November 13.

The film will focus on a group lead by a scientist working to put a stop to the end of the world, which on the Mayan calendar, is set for December 21, 2012.

Sony explained that the film was ready for release in the summer, but they needed more time for postproduction.

Additionally, the studio thinks that November is the best time of the year for big box office releases. Last year, Sony had astounding success with the release of the latest James Bond last November.

2012 is up against another film opening on November 13, namely, the highly-awaited Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr.
