The biggest clothing retailer in the United Kingdom, Marks & Spencer, announced that 1 230 people will lose their jobs when 27 stores across the country are closed.
The chain cites declining sales in 2008 as the reason behind the decision. With the store closings, Marks & Spencer hopes to reduce operating costs by 1-2% for the fiscal year 2009/2010.
