The comedic duo of the films Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead were chosen for the roles of Thompson and Thompson in the film Tintin, which will be the first of a trilogy.
The film will be directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson, who will direct the second instalment of the franchise.
Tintin will be made using the same technology used in the films Beowulf and The Polar Express.
Andy Serkis will play Captain Haddock. Thomas Sangster (Love Actually) had to back out of playing Tintin due to a schedule conflict.
The first film will be based on the books, "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham’s Treasure," and is expected to reach theatres in 2010.
