Happy Feet 2 will be made in Australia with a new digital production company. This means jobs for 438 people over the course of three years, 230 of them designated to graphic artists.
This will be the first big production for the Dr D studio and will hopefully mark the beginning of a long journey in the industry.
The first film, which was released in 2006, included Elijah Wood, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Robin Williams, who all provided voices for the animated characters. The film earned $379 million at box offices worldwide and won an Oscar for the best animated film in 2007.
