Roger Moore Criticizes the New James Bond

Roger Moore hates the new James Bond films because they are too violent.

The actor, who played Agent 007 from 1973 until 1985, feels that the James Bond films of today are pushing the limits with violence.

Moore revealed that he is proud to have played James Bond, but he wouldn’t like to be involved in the new films, such as Quantum of Solace.  The actor explained, "I am happy to have done it, but I’m sad that it has turned so violent. That’s keeping up with the times, it’s what cinema-goers seem to want and it’s proved by the box-office figures."

Moore, who recently published a book of his memoirs, called, "My World Is My Bond," says that he was encouraged to explore the dark side of the character in 1974’s The Man With the Golden Gun.  The film’s director, Guy Hamilton, wanted the character to break the arm of the film’s Bond Girl, played by Maud Adams.
