Fourteen films have been submitted to compete for a spot in the Best Animated Film category. Some of the films competing are Bolt, Horton Hears a Who, Fly me to the Moon, Igor, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, The Tale of Despereaux, and Wall-E.
In order to get voted in by the Academy, the film needs to meet certain criteria. There can only be three nominees in this category, although animated films may also compete in other categories such as Best Film.
The nominations will be announced on January 22, and the Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on February 22.
