Philip Seymour Hoffman as a Clay Figure

Philip Seymour Hoffman has agreed to provide his voice to a clay character.

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is joining the cast of the claymation film, Mary and Max.

He will be the voice behind Max and Toni Collette will be the voice of Mary.

The screenplay follows the relationship between a plump 8-year-old girl who lives in Melbourne, Australia and a 44-year-old obese Jew who lives in New York who suffers from Asperger syndrome.

The independent film will also feature the voices of Eric Bana, Renee Geyer, Ian "Molly" Meldrum, Julie Forsyth and John Flaus.

The film will be narrated by Barry Humphries, who was Bruce in Finding Nemo, and who also appeared in episodes of Ally McBeal.
