Warner Bros. has announced that a new Superman film is in the works, and the search for the next man to wear the costume is underway.
For now, it seems that there are three definite possibilities for the role. Several insiders believe that actor Tom Welling, who plays Clark Kent/Superman in the series Smallville, is the obvious choice.
Also in the running is British actor Henry Cavill of the series The Tudors. He has also starred in the films Stardust and Tristan & Isolde. Cavill was considered for the role of Superman in the 2004 film Superman Returns.
Finally, Canadian actor Vitor Webster (Lincoln Heights, CSI: Miami, Charmed, Mutant X) is another candidate.
