Portman, who is in Venice promoting her film Eve, was the first recipient of the Movie for Humanity Award.
Portman, who made her directorial debut with Eve, was given $50,000 with the award, which she will donate to the Tacare Girl’s Scholarship Programme. The scholarship is a non-profit educational programme for girls in Tanzania, and is part of the Jane Goodall Institute.
The actress happily accepted the award and mentioned the importance of the work done at the Jane Goodall Institute.
