Melanie Chisholm, also known as Sporty Spice, and her partner for the last six years, Thomas Starr, confirmed that they are expecting their first child, reported People.

The 34-year-old singer wrote on her Website, "Some happy news. I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy."

Mel C is following the example of the other Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton, who have all had children.
