MTV.com announced that Britney Spears is a nominee in the "Best Pop" and "Best Female" categories for the MTV Video Music Awards.
In the pop category, Spears finds herself contending with the likes of the Jonas Brothers, who were nominated for their video Burnin’ Up, Chris Brown’s Forever, the Pussycat Dolls’ When I Grow Up, and the group the Ting Tings for Shut Up and Let Me Go.
British comedian Russell Brand will host the 2008 VMA event, with performances by the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, and Kid Rock.
The ceremony will take place on September 7 at 9:00 p.m., at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood.
