Trembling Ground for J.J. Abrams

Filmmaker J.J. Abrams will be making a film about earthquakes.

The powerful producer of projects like Lost and Cloverfield will be making the earth shake for Universal Pictures.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the screenplay will be written by David Seltzer (The Omen).

The yet-untitled project is not intended to be a remake of the 1974 disaster film Earthquake.  Details of the film are being kept quiet, though as in most of Abrams’ productions, relationships will be at the core of the storyline.

Abrams will produce the film with Bryan Burk and Sherryl Clark, his partners in his production company, Bad Robot.

J.J. Abrams is just finishing his work on the film Star Trek, which hits theatres on May 8, 2009.
