The Hollywood Reporter says that Cruise will star in the comedy, written by Adam Brooks (Definitely, Maybe, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason).
Director Steven Brill (Drillbit Taylor, Mr. Deeds) was approached to direct the project, but no deal was set, and there is still a search for a director.
Food Fight will be one of the rare comedy films that star Tom Cruise. His last comedy role was in 1996 in the film Jerry Maguire. Cruise will also make an appearance in the film Tropic Thunder, opening on August 13.
