Jimi Hendrix Guitar Being Auctioned

The guitar that was set aflame by musician Jimi Hendrix will soon be up for auction.

Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix set his guitar on fire at the London Astoria in 1967, and that same guitar will be auctioned, reports Rolling Stone.

During the show in England, the young Hendrix set his Fender guitar on fire in an attempt to make a name for himself in the music industry.  Before leaving the show to be treated for minor burns, Hendrix asked to have the guitar, which then belonged to Noel Redding, bassist of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and press agent, Tony Garland.

Garland’s nephew now plans to sell the guitar at an auction on September 4.  The instrument is expected to sell for one million dollars.
