Jeff Bridges Goes Country

Jeff Bridges will play an alcoholic country singer in the film Crazy Heart.

Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Robert Duvall have signed a deal to star in the musical drama Crazy Heart, according to Variety.

Bridges will play an alcoholic former star, who gets a chance to rebuild his career in country music with the help of his new relationship with a journalist (Gyllenhaal).

Scott Cooper will direct and write the screenplay, while composer and producer T. Bone Burnett (Walk the Line) will create the film’s original music.

Filming is set to begin next month in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
