Gordon Moakes from Bloc Party on Hiatus

Bassist Gordon Moakes from the group Bloc Party will be missing in action for several weeks.

NME.com reports that Bloc Party’s bassist, Gordon Moakes, will not be touring with the group for the next few weeks.

Moakes explained why he unfortunately has to take a break from the group for a while, saying, "The reason for this is that my wife is expecting our first baby in a few weeks and after some long hard thinking we all decided, band included, that it was a bit silly for me to be flying round the world at such a critical time in the pregnancy."

The musician added that he didn’t want to be too far away in another continent if the baby was to be born early or if there were any complications.

Meanwhile, a friend of the group’s, Daniel Lindegren, will replace Moakes until his expected return at the end of August.  Lindegren will make his debut with the group at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, performing for 20 000 fans at the end of the month.
