Robert Downey Jr. Becomes Sherlock Holmes

After Iron Man this summer, Robert Downey Jr. will transform into Sherlock Holmes.

Variety revealed that actor Robert Downey Jr. is about to sign a contract to play famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, in a drama to be directed by Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Swept Away).

Filming is set to begin in October, so that production would be completed before the other Sherlock project, starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Farrell, begins.

It is unknown who will play the lead character’s right hand man, Dr. Watson.

Based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels and the well known comic book, the drama will be produced by Warner Bros. Studios.

In the meantime, moviegoers can catch Downey Jr. in the comedy Tropic Thunder, in theatres August 15, and in the biographical drama The Soloist,  which hits the screens on November 21.
