The first trailer for the sci-fi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still, has made its way to the Web.
The new version, based on the 1951 classic that was directed by Robert Wise (The Sound of Music), stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly.
Reeves plays an extraterrestrial whose invasion disrupts planet Earth. While the government and scientists try to uncover reasons for the alien’s arrival, a woman (Connelly) comes to understand that the being describes himself as Earth’s friend.
The new version, directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose), also features Kathy Bates, John Cleese, Jaden Smith and Jon Hamm.
The film invades theatres on December 12.
