According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Val Kilmer has joined the cast of Bad Lieutenant, a remake of the 1992 Abel Ferrara film.
In the original movie, a corrupted police officer investigates the murder of a nun. Nicolas Cage will play the cop, Val Kilmer will play his partner, and Xzibit will star as the villain.
Edward R. Pressman, who produced the first film, will share the title with Stephen Belafonte, Alan Polsky and Gabe Polsky for the new version. The screenplay will be written by Billy Finkelstein. Filming will begin later this summer.
