Coldplay Throws a Contest

Coldplay is throwing a contest to find a band to be their opening act.

After having recruited Santogold for their Viva La Vida tour, Coldplay is now holding a contest on YouTube, giving an unknown group an opportunity to perform with one of the biggest bands in the world, reports RollingStone.

The contest is sponsored by radio stations from six cities, including Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., Hartford, Philadelphia and San Jose.

A jury, consisting of radio station employees, will view the submitted recordings and will select from 15 bands. Afterwards, fans will get to vote for the last three finalists, and Coldplay will select the winner.

The winning band will be rewarded with 20 minutes on stage to open for Coldplay, $2 000 US cash, as well as ten concert tickets.
