Jeff Sanderson, a spokesperson for the 83-year-old actor, said Tuesday (June 10), "Newman says he’s doing nicely."
That was all that the spokesperson offered to the media. There was no confirmation, nor denial that the star is undergoing treatment for cancer at a Manhattan hospital.
Speculation regarding Newman’s health began when he backed out of a performance at the Westport Country Playhouse. The actor did not explain the specific reason why he would not be doing their play, "Of Mice and Men."
