According to Variety, Matt Damon is going to accept the part in the historic sports drama, The Human Factor, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Morgan Freeman.
Damon will play the role of rugby star François Pienaar, who was chosen by Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) to represent South Africa and play in the 1985 Rugby World Cup, which South Africa hosted.
The Human Factor is a film adaptation from John Carlin’s book, The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Changed the World.
Filming will take place in South Africa, and is anticipated to begin in early 2009.
Matt Damon fans can catch him in the drama, Margaret, coming out later this year.
