Common Chooses Next Single

Rapper Common has chosen Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.) to be the first single from his upcoming album.

Billboard.com reports that the song Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.) will be the first single from the disc Invincible Summer.  Common will release the album in mid-July under the Geffen label.

Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.) was produced by The Neptunes, the producing duo of Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams. Williams’ vocals will be featured in the song’s chorus.

Common wanted to create the sounds of summer.  He explained, "I created this music for the summertime. It’s about feeling good. This is the type of music I felt was missing from my body of work."

The Neptunes and Outkast producer, Mr. DJ, produced the majority of the album.

Common’s last disc, Finding Forever, was produced by Kanye West and released in 2007.
