Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, have had temporary custody of the Malawian boy, but will receive a permanent custody order on Thursday (May 15), reported FemaleFirst.
The adoption was delayed because of gaps in the international adoption laws in Malawi, one Africa’s poorest countries.
Banda was placed in an orphanage by his father, Yohane Banda, after his mother died during childbirth.
This adoption was contested by 67 local groups, who fear that foreigners are taking advantage of adoption laws in order to smuggle children.
