According to The Hollywood Reporter, Knoxville (The Dukes of Hazard) accepted a role in Fruitcake, which will be out in time for the holidays. Actress Parker Posey (Superman Returns) has also signed on for this film.
The story follows a character whose favourite dessert is fruitcake. He runs away from home during the holidays when he and his family are caught shoplifting. While on the run, he meets a young woman, raised by a gay couple, who is searching for her birth mother.
The movie will be directed by John Waters (A Dirty Shame).
Parker Posey can also be seen in the comedy Spring Breakdown. Next year, she will be starring in the drama Happy Tears, opposite Demi Moore.
Rumours are circulating that Johnny Knoxville may be appearing in the action drama, Hawaiian Dick, which is expected to come out in 2009.
