The performances given by singer Patti Smith and Kevin Shields, a guitarist of My Bloody Valentine, given on June 22, 2005 and September 12, 2006, will be featured on a concert album.
The compilation will consist of passages from The Coral Sea, a collection of poems and prose Smith published in 1996, and will be released on July 11.
Two discs make up the album paying tribute to Smith’s friend, the infamous photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, who died of AIDS in 1989. Mapplethorpe photographed Smith in 1975 for the cover of her first album Horses.
