Which Olive Oils are the Best?

The Salon International de L’Alimentation de Montréal (SIAL) food convention is revealing a list of the best olive oils.

In the Olive d’Or 2008 competition organised by the SIAL, 9 olive oils out of 105 coming from 18 different countries have been awarded.

The oils were divided into three categories, light fruity, medium fruity, and strong fruity. In each category, three winners were selected to win the following prizes: Goutte d’Or, Goutte d’Argent and Goutte de Bronze.

Ms. Christine Cheylane, an expert in the field, was chairman of the selection committee.

Among the olive oils receiving honours in the Olive d’Or 2008 are:

Goutte d’Argent : El Empiedro       
Goutte de Bronze : Santiago Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil
 
Medium Fruity
Goutte d’Or : Fuente la Madera

Goutte de Bronze : Fabrini
 
Strong Fruity
Goutte d’Or : Portico de la Villa
Goutte d’Argent : Extra Virgin Oil DOP : Planeta
Goutte de Bronze : Rincon de la Subbetica
