Nixon shared her story during an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday (April 15). Her gynecologist diagnosed breast cancer after a routine mammogram in 2006.
The star was devastated to have this disease, but relieved that it was detected early on through a mammogram. She was able to begin radiation treatment quickly.
Nixon kept quiet about her condition at that time, because she did not want paparazzis swarming the hospital. She did find it important to tell her two children the truth about the illness.
