Disney Pixar Announces New Projects

This week Disney Studios and Pixar Animation revealed a list of film projects that will keep them busy for the next four years.

Following a few years of difficulty, Disney seems to have the wind in its sail again with the purchase of Pixar Animation.  After achieving great success with the films Cars and Ratatouille, Disney’s Robert Iger and producer John Lasseter announced their plans for the next four years.

Cars 2 will be released in the summer of 2012 and Toy Story 3 should be in theatres in 2010.  This summer, we will get to see the robot film Wall-E.  Among other upcoming projects will be Bolt, to be released in November, Up, slated for May 2009.  The film The Princess and the Frog will be released in time for Christmas 2009, followed by Rapunzel for the following Christmas.  In 2011, Pixar will release two original films, Newt, and The Bear and the Bow.  The four-year plan comes to an end during the 2012 holiday season with King of the Elves.

There are also projects planned from the Disney Toon department and other films that will be released directly on DVD, including Tinker Bell.
