Kylie Minogue’s Struggle to Charm Americans

Australian singer Kylie Minogue finds that she is not charming the American public adequately.

Minogue, who won an award at the Music Industry Trust Awards in October in London, has only managed to climb to the top of the American charts twice, with her hits Locomotion (1988) and Can’t Get You Out of My Head (2002). This accomplishment leaves her wanting more.

One source said, "It eats away at Kylie that she has never been big there. She has tried before and it didn’t happen. But being the kind of determined person she is, she’s giving it one more go."  Kylie is appearing on American shows to promote her most recent album X.

Her promotional tour began yesterday (March 31), and she performed on The Today Show. The singer, perplexed by the American public, stated, "It’s a notoriously difficult market. To know where I fit within that market is very difficult."

The 39-year-old artist will appear on the following programs: The Late Late Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Dancing with the Stars.
