A New Album From Queen

Queen will launch a new album next fall.

The next disc from Queen will be the band’s first release in thirteen years.  It will also mark the first recording without the group’s late lead singer Freddie Mercury.  The CD will be released in the United Kingdom on September 1.

Singer Paul Rodgers, formerly of the group Free, has been the new voice of Queen since 2005.  He began writing new material for the band last fall with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.

Queen’s last album, Made in Heaven, was released in 1995 and featured songs that were written and recorded by Freddie Mercury before his death.  Mercury died of AIDS in 1991.

To promote the new release, Queen plans to embark on a tour of fourteen countries, including Russia, Poland, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Austria.
