The 26-year-old actress is frustrated with the parts she has been offered, and is taking her career in her own hands by starting her own production company, Handsomecharlie Films.
Portman explained, "It is proactive. It gives you more control over creating things, as opposed to having to get hired every single time."
The actress of The Other Boleyn Girl stated that she has depended on producers for the last few years in the film industry. "I’ve been working 15 years and I know some years I get everything first and some years I read only uninteresting parts. I didn’t want to be at the mercy of whoever is making those decisions," said Portman.
In addition to given Portman more autonomy as a producer, she looks forward to starring only in the films she wants to see on the big screen.
