Smashing Pumpkins To Release Song with Guitar Center

A previously unreleased song by the Smashing Pumpkins will be released on a CD featuring the employees of Guitar Center.

The song, called SuperChrist, will be among the tracks on the limited quantity disc, which will be released on March 1, according to Billboard.com.

The Smashing Pumpkins, who rose to fame in the 1990s, chose all of the tracks for the disc from submissions from Guitar Center.  Lead singer Billy Corgan explained, "Guitar Center asked us if we would be interested in contributing a song to this compilation of young artists to help draw attention to the bands."

SuperChrist didn’t make it onto the last Smashing Pumpkins disc, Zeitgeist, in 2007, but has been performed by the band live.  "We didn’t feel we understood the song and thought playing it on tour would help us sort it out," Corgan added.

The Smashing Pumpkins are also planning a North American tour.  Details of the tour have not yet been revealed.
