Murphy will play a character with multiple personalities who fools the locals into believing that his alter egos are husband and wife.
Ellen Page, who is from Halifax, will play a young mother who knows secrets from the man’s past.
The two actors will begin shooting Peacock in May. Michael Lander will direct the project that he wrote with the help of Ryan Roy. This will be Lander’s first directing role.
Murphy, who will be seen in the films The Edge of Love and Hippie Hippie Shake, stated, "Peacock stunned me as a script from start to finish. It offers an incredible challenge to an actor — one I couldn’t turn down."
Ellen Page has two other films planned. She will be directed by Sam Raimi in the film Drag Me to Hell and will star in the film Whip It, which will be Drew Barrymore’s first time behind the camera.
