The 33-year-old actor told W Magazine in his usual discrete manner, a little more about his seven-year marriage to actress Reese Witherspoon.
Philippe expressed that he is doing much better now but the divorce was "the darkest, saddest place I had ever been. There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed."
Philippe did not want to explain what caused the divorce. Some tabloids claimed that the actor was jealous of his wife who was very popular and whose salary kept getting higher.
There were also speculations that Philippe’s alleged relationship with Abbie Cornish caused the divorce. However, Philippe refutes these claims. "I don’t think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her," he stated.
