Moviehole.net reports that director Fernando Meirelles (City of Men, The Constant Gardener, City of God) will direct the film By Any Means Necessary, which is an original screenplay and not based on a book by Tom Clancy.
Gosling, 27, who starred in the films The Notebook, Fracture and Lars and the Real Girl, is currently being considered for the lead role of Jack Ryan.
The Brazilian Internet site Cinema em Cena interviewed Meirelles, who confirmed that he will be directing the project. He will first need to finish filming Blindness, starring Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal, Danny Glover and Sandra Oh.
