Scarlett Johansson Releasing an Album

Actress Scarlett Johansson will be releasing an album of Tom Waits cover songs.

According to the Internet site Pitchfork, the 23-year-old star will launch her first CD on May 20 on a Warner Music affiliate label, Atco.

The disc will be entitled I Lay My Head, which is a reference to a Tom Waits song from his 1995 album, Rain Dogs.  The actress sings ten tracks that were originally performed by Waits, and one of her own songs, which is yet untitled.

The project was directed by producer and guitarist of the group, TV on the Radio, David Sitek.  Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sean Antanaitis of Celebration also collaborated on the disc.

In addition to launching her music career, Johansson will also be making her directorial debut with the feature film New York, I Love You, which is currently in production.
