Medical Error in Treatment of Dennis Quaid’s Twins

Actor Dennis Quaid and his wife have admitted for the first time that the twins were hospitalised because of a medical error.

According to People, two months after the incident that could have have been tragic for the twins, Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, are questioning Cedars-Sinai Medical Center about the overdose of a drug administered to Zoe Grace and Thomas Boone.

The twins were hospitalised on November 18 for an infection. They were injected with an elevated dose of the blood thinner heparin. In fact they were  given 1000 times the recommended dose.
The couple stated that the hospital did not assume any responsibility for their actions.
"Our kids could have been dying, and we wouldn’t have been able to come down to the hospital to say goodbye," the actor, 53, told the Los Angeles Times Tuesday.

When Quaid called the hospital to see how the twins were doing the same evening they were given the overdose, a nurse replied, "Oh, they’re fine. They’re just fine."  The couple learned about their condition the next morning when they arrived at the hospital.

Despite the fact that the twins are doing much better, Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, are suing Baxter Healthcare Corporation, which manufactures heparin at Cedars-Sinai hospital without recommended doses. The couple has not decided if they will sue the reputable medical center.
