The Golden Globe Winners

The two movies that were the top winners at the Golden Globe Awards were Atonement and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the winners of the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards yesterday at a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The film Atonement won two awards including best drama and best original score.  Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd was named best musical or comedy.

In the category best actor/actress in a starring role, Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood) and Julie Christie (Away From Her) were  honoured for their  performances. Edith Piaf and Johnny Depp were named best actress and actor in a musical or comedy.  In the supporting role categories, Javier Bardem and Cate Blanchett won for their work in No Country for Old Men and I’m Not There.

Julian Schnabel won for best director for the movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. It was also named best foreign film.  Joel and Ethan Coen won the Golden Globe for best screenplay for this movie.
