Musical Recordings Missing From Jamaican Archives

The disappearance of original musical recordings from the Jamaica Broadcasting Corp. (JBC) has fueled a lot of anger.

A huge collection of Jamaican music from the 1970s including recordings by Bob Marley and Peter Tosh has disappeared from the archives of the JBC.

Jamaica’s information minister, Olivia Grange, stated, "The possible theft of thousands of vinyl records and compact discs is a blow to the island’s History."

Musicians and former employees of the JBC are furious and are accusing the Jamaican government for not adequately protecting these musical treasures.

The current employees of the Public Broadcasting Corp. visited the former offices of the JBC and discovered that the recordings had disappeared.

The archives also contained images of a visit to Jamaica by Fidel Castro in 1977, and the One Love Peace Concert given by Bob Marley in 1978.
