Sacha Baron Cohen Says Goodbye to Borat

Actor Sacha Baron Cohen, who created Borat, the reporter from Kazakhstan, will not play this character again.

Sacha Baron Cohen says that Borat, and another of his creations, Ali-G, are dead.  He will not write any more material for the two characters, although he still is very attached to both.

The British actor told The Daily Telegraph, "When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing."

He added, "It is like saying goodbye to a loved one."

Sacha Baron Cohen can now be seen opposite Johnny Depp in the film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.  He said of his role, "It’s much easier for me to be in character and it’s a lot more fun."
