The film is being directed by the Wachowski brothers (The Matrix). Emile Hirsch, the male lead of the project, said, "There were no sets, just us and the green background. I haven’t seen anything of it finished yet, there was a lot of trust [in the Wachowskis] involved. It’s going to be crazy."
Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox, Christina Ricci and John Goodman will also star in the film, which was adapted from a Japanese animated television series from the 1960s.
Speed Racer, which opens in theatres on May 9, follows the story of a young automobile racer, Speed, who finds fame by racing in his gadget-equipped car.
