Pete Doherty had no choice but to admit that he slipped after The Sun published photos of him. The photos show the singer injecting himself with heroine, and were taken on November 6.
A spokesperson from EMI, Doherty’s record label, confirmed that this was true, "Peter sadly relapsed last week and is now looking to check himself back into a rehab clinic."
The EMI rep added that the Doherty seemed to be regretful. "Peter would like to apologise to the medical staff, fans and well-wishers who have helped and encouraged his progress. He is filled with remorse for what he describes today as ‘a stupid, stupid action for which I feel only shame’."
In an interview with NME.com last week, Doherty was optimistic and asserted that the chances were slim that he would use heroine again.
