The Ugly Betty star, who hasn’t seen her father since he left her family when she was young, admits that it took a long time to accept what he did, reports FemaleFirst. Ferrera said, "It wasn’t easy, but as a kid you find ways to make sense of it."
The 23 year-old actress believes that the experience has helped her in her role as Betty Suarez, her Latino character in Ugly Betty.
She explains that she finds it very enriching to be a part of a television show that confronts different problems, like the Latin family whose father is fighting for citizenship.
