The pantheon of rock announced its nominations for the next Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions which will be revealed at a gala at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York on March 10.
Madonna, the Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp and Leonard Cohen, are all part of the list of nominees, as well as Donna Summer, Dave Clark Five, The Ventures, Chic and hip-hop star, Afrika Bambaataa.
The artist needs to have released their first single before 1982 to be recognized by the Hall of Fame.
Last year, R.E.M., Van Halen, Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and the Ronettes were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
